Setting Simulation Parameters for Digital Twin-Based Analysis of Parking Accessibility in Multimodal Transport Systems

Abstract
Multimodal transport systems play a critical role in ensuring efficient mobility services. In this context, digital twin models are increasingly adopted by infrastructure managers; however, their reliability strongly depends on the appropriate definition and calibration of simulation parameters, which remains insufficiently addressed in current practice. Focusing on parking facilities within multimodal transport environments, this study identifies and structures the key parameters required for realistic modeling of passenger access processes. Using a simulation model developed in PTV Viswalk, the research highlights those behavioral, operational, and infrastructure-related parameters that require expert-based quantification and calibration. The results provide a structured parameterization approach that supports the development of reliable digital twin models. Consequently, the proposed framework enhances the credibility of simulation outputs and offers practical support for transport infrastructure administrators in planning and decision-making processes.
