Abstract

Summary collapse modes classification of different cross-section structures underaxial loads were investigated by authors in this research. The pollution requirement are becoming more stringent, to minimize the quantity of CO2, and the automotive industry have to align with the new decisions taken at international level. At the same time in order to be able to fulfill this idea the modern vehicles must have a lower weight. If light materials with a high resistance and a high degree of protection are used in the construction of a vehicle, it can be said that the vehicle has a high performance and a low weight. The dimensions of the cockpit should remain undeformed in case of a collision. The energy is consumed by the controlled deformation of the sacrificial structures which are defined by tubes with closed profiles.
