Quiet areas as tourist attractions are a concept that was defined in the Nordic countries, and now it is starting to grow in the rest of Europe. Quiet zones are defined according to their type: Quiet zone in open space is an area delimited by the competent authority, which is not exposed to noise produced by road traffic, industry or other human activities. A quiet zone in a city is an area, demarcated by the competent authority that is not exposed to a noise value higher than a value set by the country municipality, regardless of the noise source. The paper presents the results of the scientific research project Thematic Trail Trigger – Three T" – Pilot project "Quiet areas as a tourist attraction". The paper presents the methodology that was used in the project to select the potential quiet areas in Brasov County, Romania, to be introduced into the tourist circuit. The methodology presented includes the establishment of quality criteria and the selection of quiet areas; development of the algorithm for defining the quiet zones; identification of places that meet the defined criteria. The methodology also includes analyses, collection of experimental data, noise maps and principles for interpreting the results. The research was the basis for the development of the strategy of Brasov County in terms of establishing the criteria for choosing quiet areas as tourist attractions.
