The influence of constructive factors in the study of the dynamic behavior of the suspension of a motor vehicle
Last modified: 2026-04-28
Abstract
The paper analyzes the influence of the vehicle's mass in the study of the vibrations of a vehicle with independent front and rear suspensions. The presented model is a model with 4 degrees of freedom that also allows the analysis of pitch jumping and swing jumping vibrations. In a first phase, the static forces at the wheels are obtained, considering known: the position of the center of gravity and the value of the suspended mass, the equivalent mass of the wheels, the elastic and damping constants of the springs and tires. The equations of motion are obtained matrixically by applying the center of mass motion theorem and the kinetic momentum theorem. The system's response in time and frequency is analyzed. The data used for simulation on a model made in MATLAB are for a domestic car from the Dacia range. The results obtained are presented in the form of diagrams. In particular, the influence of the suspended mass and the position of its center of gravity on the dynamic behavior of the suspension are studied. The final conclusions are presented at the end of the paper.
