The current issue related to pollution and the occurrence of extreme physical phenomena caused by global warming have forced society to search for diverse solutions and methods aimed at improving the quality of life on Earth. Among all the alternative fuels available now, hydrotreated vegetable oil - HVO is one of the best substitutes for fossil fuels. This work focuses on the analysis of HVO and diesel B7, supported by a CFD simulation study designed to provide a comparison of engine performance and pollutant emissions. The characterization of HVO in the CFD simulations is based on experimental data obtained from in-house laboratory testing.
